Brandi's Famous Lasagna
This is super easy and I did "shortcut"on the sauce this time! I used to make sauce from scratch which easily took 8 to 12 hours! Who has time for that now? Here is a super easy and yummy recipe for my lasagna that has always been a huge hit!
Here's what you need:1/2 lb ground beef (or more to taste)
1/2 lb ground Italian sausage (or more to taste)
24 oz ricotta cheese
16 oz Mozzarella cheese
8 oz Parmesan cheese
1 egg
basil
oregano
rosemary
minced onion
salt
pepper
1 can diced tomato
grape jelly (yes! grape jelly!)
lasagna noodles
Step one:
Put your ground beef and your Italian sausage in a pan to brown. You can also boil your noodles at this time so once they are finished they have time to cool down.
Step two:
While your meat and noodles are cooking start mixing your cheese! Put the ricotta cheese in a large bowl.
You will mix your basil, rosemary, minced onion, oregano, 1 egg, and about 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and about 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese.
This is how it will look when mixed.
Step Three:
Add about one cup of grape jelly. Trust me it makes this so much better! It cuts the acidity in the sauce and tomato's and gives the sauce a great flavor.
Add your can of tomato's. (In the picture I was making a double serving so I ended up switching pans. The recipe is for just one. No worries!)
Step Four:
Let the meat, tomato's, and jelly simmer for about five minutes. While it is simmering let your noodles cool so they will be ready to layer.
Step Five:
Add your sauce. One jar is fine. I am using a 44 oz jar in the picture. (My family likes extra sauce for their bread, etc)
Step Six:
While the sauce is simmering start to layer your noodles. Add 1/2 the ricotta cheese mixture and spread across three noodles.
Step Seven:
Your sauce should be done, so layer it on top of the cheese mixture and repeat step six and seven.
Step Eight:
Once your layers are finished top with cheese. I used a ton! Probably about 2-3 cups of mozzarella and Parmesan.
Step Nine:
Put your lasagna in the oven at 350 for about 45 minutes.
Step Ten:
Take out your lasagna and enjoy!!
