I Quit : Two Weeks In

Ok, so its been two weeks and I'm still smoke free! I can't believe after smoking for over 15 years I am now a non smoker! I am still using the electronic cigarettes, but that's ok! They do have a small amount of nicotine, but do not have tobacco, tar, or any other harmful chemicals that are found in cigarettes. I have to say I am proud of myself and Ty! Here is what I've noticed so far...

1) Food tastes different!
2) I can breathe better!
3) I have more time ( I had no idea how much time I was wasting by going outside to smoke)
4) I am saving more money.
5) I don't cough as much.
6) I don't smell like smoke. 7) Since I don't smell like smoke and I can breathe and smell again I noticed that cigarette smoke doesn't smell all that great! It actually smells pretty bad.
8) My kids are super happy for me and my mom is proud!

Just wanted to give you guys the update! I hope everyone is having a fantastic day!

I'm Quitting...

I decided to share part of my newest personal journey with you. I have been a smoker for 18 years. I started young! I wish I never would have picked up those stupid things, but I did. The thought of quitting has always been hard.

I have tried quitting cold turkey before, and of course tried the gum. Neither worked. This has been a bad habit that is very hard to break. This past Sunday I decided to try something new. My husband and I (he is quitting also) decided we would try out the electronic cigarettes. I don't even think that these were intended to help you quit, but so far it is working.

We bought the NJoy brand rechargeable kit. They are a little under $20 each and the cartridge refill is also about $20. The refill cartridge is equivalent to a carton of cigarettes. The electronic cigarette doesn't have tar, tobacco, or half the other things found in cigarettes. It does have nicotine though. It doesn't smell like smoke, there are no ashes, and it is super easy to use.

I can say that it has helped so far. When I get the urge to smoke a cigarette I pick this up and smoke it.There is a lot less nicotine in these than in regular cigarettes, but since they are so similar to regular cigarettes it makes this process much easier.

Since I smoked for so long I got used to the feeling of the nicotine, holding the cigarette, and blowing out the smoke. These, of course, are natural effects of smoking. With the electric cigarette you do the exact same thing. I can't say that it is as fulfilling as lighting a cigarette and feeling the full effects, but it helps me so much more than just putting a piece of gum in my mouth. I plan to taper off of these in my quitting process, but this will be much easier than going cold turkey. I really have hope this time! We will see how it goes! Below are the pictures of the rechargeable cigarettes, refill cartridges, and single disposable electric cigarettes in case you are thinking of trying this out as a way to quit! They have regular, lights,  menthol, and menthol lights.

Electronic pack. Comes with charger, one cartridge and one cigarette.

These are cartridge refills

This is the disposable cigarette.

Everyone wish me luck!! If you want to stop smoking now is the time! I'm thrilled my husband decided to quit with me, but either way I'm doing this! Who else wants to quit?
